Ses rameaux font ligneux , de l’épaifleuf du
petit doigt, tortueux', & munis d’épines folitai-
res, 8c courbées en manière de cornes. Les
feuilles font lancéolées-linéaires & plus petites
queles épines. Les baies font axillaires, folitaires
& prefque fefliles. Cette plante croît fur les troncs
d’arbres pouïris , dans les montagnes de l’Ifte de
Célèbes, .
CASTILLÊE , Castille a ; genre de plante
à fleurs monopétalées , de la divifion dès Per-
formées , 8c qui comprend des plantes exotiques ,
dont les feuilles fpnt alternes, & dont les fleurs
irrégulières viennent en grappe terminale.

Chaque fleur confifte i°. en un calice mono-
phylle , tubuleux , coloré , & qui s’ouvre longitudinalement
; 2°. en une corolle monopétale ,
en mafque ou labiée , ayant fa lèvre fupérieure
plus longue, canaliculée, foutenue par le calice ,
& l’inférieure formée de deux très-petites glandes
tubuleufes & trifides -, 30. en quatre étamines
didynamiques, dont chaque filament porte deux
anthères -, 40, en un ovaire fupérieur oblong ,
chargé d’un ftyle filiforme, dont Ip ftigmate eft
obtus.
Le fruit eft une capfule ovale-oblongue, comprimée,
biloculaire, & à cloifon oppofée aux
faces applaties. Elle contient des femençes nom-
breufes & très-petites.
