fa tige eft droite , .ligneufe, menue, haute d’un,
pied ou environ , & divifée en rameaux grêles ,
feuilles & redrelfés. Ses feuilles font ternées, lancéolées
, un peu pétiolées , glabres, à bords
repliés en dedans , ce qui lés rend concaves ,
ferrées contre les rameaux , 8c longues de près de
deux lignes. Les fupérieures vont en s elargiflant
de manière que celles qui avoifinent les fleurs fe
changent en braétées fearieufes , purpurines , ova-
les-pointues, cannées., entaflées les unes contre
les autres , enveloppant les fleurs , 8c donnant aux
fommités de la plante un afpect fort agréable.
Les fleurs font faficieulées , terminales , & ont la
corolle longue de trois à quatre lignes, prifma-
tique, & à quatre petits lobes pointus. Cette

Sa tige fe divife en rameaux droits , très-menus,
prefque filiformes , glabres , 8c d’un rouge brun
ou grifeâtre. Ses feuilles font petites, ternées,

Les fleurs font d’un rouge pâle , luifantes, fituées
aux fommités des rameaux , & remarquables par

calice eft un peu moins long que la corolle , &

Quoique cette Bruyère foit peu élevée, c’eft
une des plus belles que l’Europe produite , à caute
de l’éclat de. fes fleurs : elle pouffe plufieurs tiges
grêles, couvertes d’une écorce cendrée , munies
de petits rameaux courts difpofes trois à trois ,
& qui s’élèvent à la hauteur d’un pied ou quelquefois
un peu plus. Ses feuilles font longues de deux
lignes , en alêne , vertes , glabres, difpofées
comme par paquets, mais ternées fur les jeunes
pouffes. Les fleurs font affez grandes , d’une couleur
purpurine plus ou moins foncée, quelquefois
d’un violet bleuâtre , ce qui forme une variété
très-agréable , 8c quelquefois tout-à-fait blanches.
Elles viennent en grappes compofées &
terminales. Leur corolle eft ovale - oblongue,
