Sa tige n’eft qu’une efpèce -de louche ligneufe ,
haute d’un à trois poucesyfeinllée , & qui porte
à Ion lommet un paquet denfe & felïile, com-
pofé de beaucoup de fleurs dont, les calices extrêmement
cotonneux, les font paroître entaflees
' dans un peloton de . duvet très-blanc. Les feuilles
l'ont longues d’un à trois pouces, & leur pétiole-,
qui eft terminé par une pointe,roide & piquante j
porte quatre à fix paires de folioles lancéolées ,
velues & blanchâtres des deux côtés, & terminées
par d'ne pointe épineufe. La plante.-# eft une fois
plus petite , & peut être diftinguée comme efpèce-,
néanmoins elle nous paroît avoir beaucoup de
rapports avec celle dont il vient d’être queftion.

Ses feuilles ont jufqu’à un pied de longueur,
naiflènt de la fouche radicale fort courte qui lui
'tient lieu de tige , & font compofées de huit à
dix paires de folioles grandes , ovales-lancéolées,
verdâtres, prefque glabres , & terminées par une
pointe épineufe. Ces folioles relfemblent à des
feuilles de Genet, & ont quelquefois plus d’un
pouce de longueur. Les fleurs font fefliles 8c ramaf-
fées au collet de la fouche radicale en un paquet
denfe , cotonneux & embriqué de ftipules larges
& fcarieufes. Cette plante croît dans l’Arménie.

Cette efpèce eft tout-à-fait diftîncle de toutes
celles dont nous avons fait mention, & forme
une affez jolie plante remarquable par fes beaux
épis de fleurs , qui s’approchent par leur forme de
ceux de certaines efpèces de Trefle que les anciens
nommoient Lagopus , c’eft-à-dire patte de lièvre,'
Sa racine produit plufieurs fouches ligneufès ,
élevées en tige depuis deux .jufqu’à quatre pouces,
la plupart divifées en quelques rameaux courts ,
hérifleës dans leur partie inférieure de piquans
formés par les anciens pétioles, & terminées par
des faifceaux de feuilles 8c, des hampes ou pédoncules
qui foutiennent les fleurs. Ses feuilles font
longues d’un à trois pouces , 8c compofées de fix
à: huit paires de folioles lancéolées , verdâtres en
défias , blanchâtres 8c pubefcentes en defious y
longues de quatre lignes , 8c munies d’une pointe
épineufe à leur fommet. Les pédoncules font velus
