Toute cette plante eft cotonneufe , fur-tout les
feuilles 8c les calices ; fa tige eft (impie & garnie
de feuilles ovales, feffiles, petites & très-entières.
Elle fe termine par une grappe (impie, dont les
pédoncules latéraux & très-courts, foutiennent
des fleurs tout-à-fait purpurines. Cette plante
croît dans la Virginie. Tp.

amplexicaulibus , floribus confertis terminalibus ,

Ses tiges s’élèvent à la hauteur de cinq ou fix
pieds ; elles font prefque (impies, rougeâtres ,
couvertes de poils courts un peu diftans, 8c chargées
de feuilles éparfes. Ces feuilles fon-t nom-
brèufes , lancéolées-linéaires, pubefeentes, femi-
amplexicaules , à oreillettes à leur bafe , molles ,
& très-entières. Les fleurs font grandes, à couronne
d’un violet bleuâtre , 8c ramaffées au fommet
de chaque tige cinq à fept enfemble, en un
bouquet ferré, prefque glomérulé, 8c feffile. Les
pédoncules propres font fort, courts. Cette plante
croît naturellement dans l’Amérique feptentrionale

Cette efpcce a beaucoup de rapport avec la précédente
, mais elle s’élève moins , & n’a point (es
fleurs gloméruléès. Ses tiges font hautes dé trois
à quatre pieds , cylindriques, velues , feuillées 8c
rameüfes à leur (ommet. Ses feuilles (ont éparfes ,
amplexicaules, étroites - lancéolées , ondulées ,
très-entières 8c ouvertes ou réfléchies. Les fleurs
terminent chaque rameau, 8c naifîènt auffiquelquefois
dans les aiflelles des feuilles fupérieures
dont ils font munis. Leur calice eft lâche 8c à
folioles très-aiguës, 8c leurs demi-fleurons lont
nombreux , étroits , 8c d’un bleu pourpre. Cette
