Cette plante s’élève a la hauteur d un pied Ce
demi ou davantage -, fes tiges font garnies à chaque
articulation d’une feuille longue o’environ
fept pouces , large de deux lignes & demie , 8c
chargée de poils courts. La panicule eft ouverte,
lâche , longue de fix ou fept pouces , & porte des
épillets oblongs , pointus , & qui n’ont que trois
ou quatre fleurs. Cette. Graminee croit dans les
bois de l’Allemagne & du Danemarck.

Cette efpèce , que l’on cultive au Jardin du Roi
fous le nom de Bromus rubens , paroît plutôt
devoir être rapporté^ au BromusJlipoides de Linné|
elle ne s’élève qu’à fix ou fept pduces de hautern
' étant cultivée , 8c vraifemblablement moins dans
fon lieu' natal -, là tige, qui eft grêle, eft garnie
de quelques feuilles glabres & étroites. Elle porte
à fon fommet une panicule droite , un peu refler-
rée, ovale-pointue , & longue de deux pouces
& demi, fur un pouce de largeur. Les épillets
font glabres , verdâtres ou teints d’un pourpre
violet, ont trois ou quatre fleurs , 8c font remarquables
par leurs pédicules propres, qui vont en
s’épaifliflant vers l’épillet, 8c ont la forme d’un
cône renverfe ou d’une corne d’abondance. Les
barbes font droites & parfaitement terminales.
Cette plante croît en Italie & en Efpagne. ( v. v. )

Cette plante a des rapports avec le Fejluca
pheiiieoides de Linné , & devroit peut-être faire
partie du genre des Fétuques. Sa racine eft rampante,
dure , articulée, & pouffe à diftérens intervalles
des touffes de feuilles , 8c quelques tiges
qui s’élèvent à peine à un pied de hauteur. Ces
tiges font menues , liffes , feuillées , 8c munies
dans leur partie inférieure de rameaux courts.,
alternes , 8c la plupart ftériles. Les feuilles font
roulées comme celles de certains Joncs , en alêne ,
courtes, & d’un verd glauque. Les épillets font
droits, prefque fefliles, alternes ,^en petit nombre
( trois à cinq.)', glabres , & compofés de huit
à dix fleurs. Les valves florales externes font obtu-
fes, 8c portent une très-petite barbe terminale.
Cette plante croît dans le Levant 8c dans le
