citée, prouve que l’ovaire de la fleur qui l’a précédé
, étoit fupérieur , de forte qu’il eft vraifèm-
blable que les fleurs de Y Asjogan. font portées
chacune fur un pédoncule qui va en grofiiffant
yers fonfommet, quelles ont un très-petit calice
à quatre divifions , quatre pétales ouverts , huit
étamines, & un ovairé-diipéneur conique pointu ,
qui fe termine par un ftyle fimple. C’eft en effet
ce qu’on remarque dans la figure qü’en a donne
Rhéede, 8c ce qui fe rapporte avec la branche
en fruit que nous pofledons. '
L’Asjogan eft toujours verd, fleurit tdfrà'les
ans, 8c croît naturellement dans l’Inde & au
Malabar. Il nous paroît avoir des rapports avec le
genre du Calaba. Le jus de fes feuilles, mêlé avec
de la graine de Cumin pulvérifee , eft propre pour
appaifèr la colique. On les prend en poudre avec
