Der kleine, in Sedez - Format gedrnekte Portolan umfasst 84 Seiten und neun
Kiii-tehen in Holzschnitt. .-Vm Sehluss des Buches heisst es: Stampata in Yenetia per
Amjustina di Bindimi 1528, Adi 14 de JIar:o. Er ist composto per Piero Coppo a intelligentia
et utiiita de cada un nauigante et de qualunque persona che de saper desidera. Die letzten z-vvülf
Seiten enthalten eine kurze Weltbeschreibung. Der Weltkreis wird noch ganz nach dem
alten Schema in drei Teile geteilt. Er ist eine Insel, deren Länge (Indien bis zu den Säulen
des Herakles) 12S12uul l i a und deren Beite (von den Nilqucllen in .-Verinopien beim Kap
der Guten Hoffnung [I] bis zum Tanais) 65G2 millia beträgt. Der Umfang ^vird auf
S15000 millia gesehätzt. — Vgl. Harrisse, Bibl. Americana vetust. No. L44, S. 264 und
Nordenskiöld, Facsimile-Atlas, S. 103. Es sind nur zwei Exemplare dieses Portolans bisher
bekannt gewesen, von denen auch nur einer jenes Weltk,ärtchen enthält. Nach diesem
(im Bi'itish Sluseinn befindlichen) hat Nordenskiöld sein Facsimile hergestellt. Ich entdeckte
ein drittes Exemplar, und zwar ebenfalls mit We l tka r t e , in der Bibhoteca Estense zu
Modena; nach dieser ist das in tnisereni .-Xtlas (Tafel XH' . No. 5) gegebene Facsiuüle ausgeführt
worden.

.Austral-Land: Este cabo de buena e.sperança tiene al Oeste ala tierra que llaman austrat, ay desdel
cabo de buena esperança fasia ala tierra austral quairocientas y dncuenta leguas, esta en XLII grados,
esta tierra austral esta del caho de sant agostin seydentas leguas, esta sant agostin al sueste, quarta
al .mr, desta tierra no se sabe mas de quanto la han visto desde los navios, porque no han
