fupplicia tranfmittat; cur non aliud his
nomen ab Ecclefiafte impofitumeft, nifi
vanitas? optabile enim eratiftis, qui din
in rapinis, in avaritia, in criminationi-
bus, in ingluvie, in ebrietate, incrapu-
la, in aliis omnibus flagitiis verfati effent,
vanitatem eorum folis operum cu-
jufque terminis definitam ac circumfcri-
ptam elfe ; ne cum iis ad illam quoque
vitam tranlire deberent, in qua juftus judex
de omnium, qui vita defun&i fint,
meritis eft cogniturus. quomodo igitur
quæ poenas importent intolerabiles cru-
ciatufque perpetuos, vanitas vanitatum
appellabuntur ? præfertim quum vcl de
otiofo verbo poenas ab hominibus dan-
das, rationemque in judicii die redden-
dam elfe, Chriftus 8c Deus nofter in E-

damnatis increpitifque iis, qui naturæ fines
radonefque tranfgrefiî, l e g e s e j u s , a

luntariis liberi arbitrii momentis ac mo-
tibus ad res inutiles 8c malas abutuntur;
fatis elfe exiftimavit, fi eos ab una va-
