Recent. = receptacle, that which bears the sori or capsules ; prominent in most CyatJiece ;
elongated and columnar, or even bristle-shaped, in Hymeno'pliyllum and Trichomanes.
Cctjps. = capsule, or capsules.

indicates a deeper or more elongated lobe.
Pnm. = primary, or first division of a compoundly pinnate or pinnatifid frond ; thus

iSecowci. —secondary ; the second principal division, or pinna, of a frond.
