 to the W. S. W.,  with  the  cultivations  furrounding it  
 afcendin'g the hills,  in  ridges'  one  above another/  A  
 fandy beach fkirtedthe Ihore,  from -whence wh  were  
 d iff an t  four/ miles.  : We I experienced.  ;tbis :  dayj/a  
 foutherly  current  of  14  milès. ;  In  the  evening.and  
 morning,  and  during  the  ;fog, : we  were  Continually  
 troubled with  a variety.ofbrown  peterèls, : haviög- the  
 outer  part  of  their  wings  tipped  underneathjwith  
 white.  They made  an  unufual chattering  noife,-  and  
 wérein great numbers. 
 ;  At 7 b;  we were  only abreaft pf the  outer  extreme  
 head  fet  at  noon,  now  bearing  N». 6$° W .. ; At; the  
 extremity  .of  the  low  point  beyond  it  are  fome  detached  
 rocks ;  they bore  N. 40° W.  five  or  fix miles.  
 Some ; very  diftant  high  land  was  obferved  to |  the  
 W. N. W.  The night was very foggy.. 
 In the morning we had affrefh breezef-rom. the S. E.,  
 which increafed the fog.-till near boon, when.it .entirely f}  
 difperfedvit, 
 We  experienced  this  d^y ^ZJ mile^of - tyutherly

 took  a  S.W.  by  W.  dire&ion.  Our  diftance  was
