Very fine weather enabled us to 'range the fliore
at a little diftance ; it lies in the direction of N. N. fi.
and S. S. W., and near •-the S. E. extreme we obferyed
anl^tenfive village. A fmal.1 reef lies off the. point,
and as we opened we difcovèred another ifland Bearing.
S. 75° W. from it, and falling abruptly to the lea. At
2 h. 30em this head bore Sv 88s5 W.; the viHlffé' point
N. E . ; opening to fea between the ifland N."7° E .;
and we perceived two rocks in the midft of breakers
N. -86° W. and S. 75° W. three or four miles, and wé
had no bottom with 100 fathoms. Wé. bore, up an d

fo in appearance as to preclude any clear paflage
between them. At 5 h. 50' we approached an ifland
of no elevation, bearing from S. 50° to S. 36° ;W. two
