Pileus 1-2 inches broad and high, at first ohtuse, conic, retieulato-riigu-
lose, at length campanulate, dark cinereous, livid when dry ; the ring
broken into triangular loops or laciniæ, fringing the margin, which is minutely
downy and frequently split ; gills adnate, ascending, mottled, cinereous
black, sub deliquescent ; stem 2-6 in. high, squamiil&so-tomentose,
pulverulent, often beaded with little drops, striate above, nearly white, at
