very fleshy, sometimes only sub-carnose, sub-hemispherioal, sometimes
rugoso-plicate, in large specimens ochraceous, with a rufous tinge, mpgiu
pale, involute and downy ; gills broad, edges often lachrymose, ventricose,
adnexed, emarginate or adnate, rather irregular, suh-argillaoeous or cinnamon
; stem 2-4J in. high, 2 lines-1 in. thick, sub-bulbons, or nearly equal,
somewhat rooting, clothed with scattered fibrillose scales, especially towards
the apex, often twisted ; at length hollow ; odour disagreeable, somewhat resembling
