This species, remarkable for its viscid pileus, squamulose stem, and adnate
clay-colonred gills, occurred in great quantities as above. I t is a very late
species ; gregarious, tough, 1 in. or more high ; pilens rather tawny, flesh
yellow ; spores ferruginous, ■with an apioulus at one end.

brown becoming pallid ; umbo almost wbite, stem often swollen,
twisted, striate, attenuated downwards, rich tawny ; gills crowded
