Pileus ratber fleshy, convex, subumbonate, at first with silky-
wbite threads, becoming smooth, ligbt reddish-yellow (tan coloured),

fibrilloso-striate ; gills adnate, somewhat crowded, thin, inoli-l

then convex, rather acutely umbonate, the umbo cinnamon, then brownish
changing to ochraceous, sub-carnose, silky, especially on the margin, which
IS pellucid when moist; gills at first pale, changing to dark cinnamon. Stem
2 in. or more high, scarce 1 line thick, rufesoent, pruinose, or sericeo-squam-

Not found since the time of Bolton. Stem 2-3 in. long, 2-4 lines thiek,
whitish, at first silky, then becoming smooth. Pileus about 2 in. broad;
when moist of a brick-red, tan-coloured when dry, hutvariabl*-, in either state
opaque. Gills deeply emarginate, very ventricose, 3-4 lin. broad, crowded.
