Tufts resembling strongly those of Myxotrichum chartarum, hut rather
larger, forming large effused, grey patches ; threads thicker at the base,
flexuous, pale purple under the microscope, strongly curved at the tips like
little tendrils, sparingly articulate at irregular distances, or perfectly continuous
; spores conglomerate, large, 5-8 times as broad as the threads,
globose; episporium th in ; endochrome strongly granulated. {Fig. 280.)
