Forming elongated, raised, irregular, black, or greyish spots, i line thick,
i-1 line long. Perithecia globose, middle-sized, with a conical neck, im-
meraed in the wood, scattered, covered with a thin black stroma ; ostiola
punctiform, not very visible externally ; asci davate, containing an mdehnite
number of curved opaque sporidia, which are far larger than in the neighbouring
species, resembling Eutypa lata, but distinguished by the much
larger opaque sporidia wliich are contained in clavate asci. M. J . B,
