g i Z E óf a Blackbird : length feven inches and a half. Bill
black: the crown of the head is cinereous olive , from
thence to the tail fine olive green: over the eye a ftreak of yellow
: chin and throat yellow ; from the noftrils through the eye,
bending forwards to the fore part of the neck, is a ftreak of
black, which blends itfelf with a deep crefcent of the fame on
the breaft :'belly, vent, and thighs, yellow : the tail is cuneiform,
and three inches and a half löng , the two middle feathers are
like the backs the others are black, with yellow tips i the legs
are blackifh.
The femal'e wants both the black ftreak which paffes through
the eye of the male, as well as the collar on the breaft: the upper
parts are greenilh yelloW: the throat grey : and the breaft and
belly greenilh yellow-, but paler than the upper parts.
The native place of this bird is fuppofed to be Ceylon, but is
likewife frequently received from the Cape of Good Hope* , whether
indigenous likewife to that place is uncertain; The female
has much refemblance to the following fpecies.
* Two, from that place, are in the colleéliön of Charles Boddam, Efq;
they are named Bahaktry ; in one of them there is only a patch of black on thé
throat, not a crefcent:

3 brown : the head, chin, throat, and upper parts of the body,
wings, and tail, are green, with a fine reflection of orange in particular
lights: a few of the quills have the outer webs white, the
under parts, from the throat to the vent,, bright orange the
legs are brown.
