g I Z E of a Chaffinch : length fix inches. General colour olive
green on the upper parts ; yellowiffi white beneath.: chin
and vent yellow : quills ferruginous : legs dufky.
Inhabits New Caledonia.
LE N G T H fix inches. Bill three quarters of an inch, and
lead-colour; ftrait, rather flout, and a trifle bent at the tip j
bafe hairy : irides the colour of the bill : general colour of the plumage
like yellow oker, mottled with dufky on the wing coverts
and quills : the tail is one inch and fhree quarters long, and dufky
for one third next the tip: legs of a pale afh-colour-: claws black.
This fpecies is common at Otaheite, where it is known by the
name o f Qo mamdojpdoa hou.
I E N G T H five inches and a half.. Bill feven .lines, Tather
flout, and bent only at the t ip ; noftrils covered by a membrane
j bafe of the bill briflly : irides hazel: the head, neck, and
bread, golden yellow : upper parts dufky pale yellowifh green,
inclining on the rump to afh-colour: belly, thighs, and vent,
white: legs black : claws long.
