the bafe * ; the colour of it is blackifh blue, the margins and
point whitilh j the bafe is befet with lèverai Ihort briftles, and
two long ones on each fide, nearly of the length of the bill : the
general colour of the plumage is black, with a glofs of blue in
iome lights : the quills and tail dulky black : thé chin and Tides
of the throat, the rump and upper tail coverts, belly, thighs,
and vent, are crimfon ; but in both the laft a mixture óf black :
fix of thé fcapular feathers are white, and pointed at the ends, and
hang ovef the wing Goverts in an elegant manner : the outer edge
o f the wing, a little way from the bend, is white ; the legs are
black : the outer a’nd middle toe connected ; the claws flatted on
the fides .
This beautiful fpecie's is -in fine prefervaticm in the Lêberiati
Mufeum, but its native place unknown.
