The plant was collected by Eichwald on the islands at the
mouth of the Volga, and by Henning on the banks of that
river, where it was originally gathered by Pallas. The stem
is described by Ledebour to vary from a foot to a foot and a
half in height.

SUBSCRIBERS TO T H E B R IT ISH FLOWER GARDEN.
T h e period having arrived at which the Second
Series of the British Flower Garden is complete,
and it not being the intention of the Publishers,
Messrs. Ridgway and Sons, to commence a new one,
they beg most respectfully, as a periodical, to recommend
the “ B o t a n i c a l R e g i s t e r ” to the notice
and patronage of the Subscribers, a New Series of
which will be begun on January 1st, 1838. Each
No. will contain at least Six Plates, and descriptions
of many more Plants; besides much Botanical and
Horticultural News, and a Monthly Register of the
most new and interesting matter relating to those
subjects. It is also proposed, in all cases, to give
precise directions for the cultivation of the Plants
that may be introduced into the work. The price of
each No. will be only 3s. 6</., being Qd. more than
the price of the British Flower Garden, for which
additional Qd. the Subscribers will have Two additional
Plates, and all the valuable matter before
described. The whole being under the superintendance
of Dr. Bindley.
