imposita. Stigma capitatum. Drupa: plerumque 5 maturescentes, puta-
raine osseo, 3-5-loculari, subtùs deraso 3-5-foraminuloso ! Semina subro-
tunda, testa membranaceà. Albumen carnosum, copiosum. Embryo fili-
formis, gyratus, subperiphericus.
IlerbEe (peruviana v. chilenses) plerumque annua. Eolia alterna, integerrima,
Flores solitarii, pedunculati, speciosi, ccerulei, alares v. axillares.
Obs. Solanearum tribum distuictum efficere viduntur genus bocce et Triguera,
qute a Solaneis normalibus fructùs structura distinguuntur, et per Boragmem
et Falkiam Solaneas, Convolvuláceas atque Boragineas consociunt. Triguerm
ambre species nunc in Hispanià quasi spontè nascuntur, absdubio e Peruvià
adprimùm introducta fuerunt. Jabarosa a cateris Solaneis distinguitur
corolte ffistivatione induplicatà. D. Don Mss.
N. atriplicifolia, caule procumbente subvilloso, calycibus campanulatis : laciniis
ovato-ianceolatis acutis conniventibus, foliis spathulatis ; radicalibus maxlmis.

Root annual. Stems prostrate, slightly angular, from 3
to 6 inches long, marked with purple lines and dots,
furnished especially towards the top with soft scattered
hairs. Leaves fleshy, entire ; radical ones ovate-spathulate,
on footstalks of 2 or 3 inches in length ; those of the stem
spathulate, rather blunt, an inch long, on short, broad,
fringed footstalks. Flowers axillary, solitary. Peduncles
filiform, pale purple, slightly hairy, half an inch or an inch
long. Calyx leafy, campanulate, the limb 5-cleft, 5-plaited,
with ovate-lanceolate, acute, entire, connivent lobes, of
which the two outer ones are larger. Corolla campanulate,
