Bulh ovate, about the size of a pigeon’s egg, covered with
a brown shining skin. Scapes erect, compressed, solid, dark
green, smooth and glossy, 3 or 4 inches high. Zeares longer
than the scape, erect, semicylindrical, almost filiform, acute,
dark green and glossy, slightly channelled above. Flowers
solitary, of a rich yellow. Peduncle compressed,, smooth,
longer than the ovarium. Spathe an inch and a half long,
tubular, thin and membranous, nerved, pale-green, afterwards
becoming brown, split below at the apex. Perianthium tur-
binately campanulate, an inch and a half long ; tube greenish
yellow, longer than the crown ; segments lanceolate, acute,
erect; crown longer than the segments, wide, rigid, truncate,
plaited, repand and crenulate at the margin. Stamens 6,
declinate, inclosed, 3 outer ones rather longer than the rest.
Filaments filiform, bent, glabrous, pale-yellow. Anthers
incumbent, versatile, deep yellow, of two connate cells.
Ovarium elliptical-oblong, rounded, smooth and glossy, 3-
celled. Style filiform, glabrous, longer than the stamens,
pale yellow. Stigma peltate, projecting beyond the crown,
of 3 very shallow, papillose, rounded lobes.
