Herba; (Europae v. Africa; bor.) caulibus tetragonis, foliis oppositis, floribus
axillaribus ebracteatis.
Obs. Anagallis altèrnifolla Cav. et ovalis Ruiz et Pav. ob corollam urceolatam
marcescentem, filamenta imberbia, et folia alterna certè ad Ceritunculum
pertinent. Anagallidis species in bemispbsria boreali tantùm, Centunculi
in utraque spontè proveniunt. Tiraseckia (A. tenella) differt corolla
campanulati decidua, et stigmate acuto. D. Don Mss.

corolla crenulata calyce acuminato duplò longiore, caule ramosissimo
adscendente.

Stems ascending, much branched, about a span high, quadrangular,
the angles sharp and prominent ; frequently
becoming ligneous at the base. Leaves crowded, verticillate,
cordate-lanceolate, acute, glaucous-green, 5-7-nerved. the
margins scabrous and revolute at the base. Flowers numerous,
