which it is distinguished by its taller, and more upright
habit, deeper green leaves, and larger flowers of a richer
hue. The plant is readily multiplied by cuttings, and it
is well entitled to a place in the flower border.
Our drawing was taken at Mr. Knight’s Nursery in May
last.
This and several other species long recognized by Botanists
as distinct, have been combined by De Candolle under
Linum glandulosum of Moench, but whether correctly or not
I cannot take upon myself to say, not being in possession of
the requisite materials to give an opinion on the subject.
In so natural a genus the limits of species are often very
difficult to define, and the whole are deserving of a patient
investigation from the experimental Botanist.
