P. veniferum, foliis cordato-ovatis undulatis inaequaliter
cartilagineo-dentatis utrinque pilosis, stipulis ovatis
acutis villosis, pedunculis plurifloris, petalis omnibus
ovatis venosis, calycibus acuminatis patentibus, tubo
nectarifero calyce villoso duplo breviore.

Stem shrubby, branching: branches thickly clothed
with spreading unequal villous hairs. Leaves cordately
ovate, more or less undulate, sharply toothed with unequal,
long, horny teeth, slightly fringed and hairy on both sides,
underneath strongly nerved, the oles nerves branching. Peti
flat on the upper side and convex on the lower, a little
dwuidnecnleeds at the base. Stipules ovate, acute, villous. Pe
several-flowered, thickly clothed with unequal
villous hairs. Involucre of 6 or 7 broadly ovate, acute,
concave, villous bractes, which are terminated in a sharp
mucro, and are sometimes toothed, of a brown colour. Pedicles longer than the bractes, villous. Calyx 5-cleft,
segments long, lanceolate, tapering to a long slender point,
sometimes a little twisted, spreading, villous, of a brown
purple colour. Nectariferous tube about half the length
of the calyx, of a brown colour, flattened on each side,
villous. Petals all ovate; the two upper ones broadest,
very unequal sided near the base, of a lilac colour, with a
large purple patch in the centre, and from the base are numerous
purple veins, which branch all over the petals, underneath
strongly two-nerved, the nerves forked: lower
petals of a lighter colour, with two or three purple veins
from the base, underneath 4-nerved, the nerves much
