datis quinquelobis undulatis rotundato-obtusis obtuse
dentatis basi dilatatis utrinque pilosis : lobis rotundatis
subsinuatis, umbellis multifloris, petalis obovatis, tubo
nectarifero calyce subasquali.

Stem frutescent, branched : branches thick and rather
succulent, densely clothed with unequal villous hairs, as
is every other part of the plant except the corolla. Leaves
large, about as broad as long, cordate and dilated at the
base, deeply 5-lobed, very much undulate, strongly nerved
underneath, the nerves much branched; very soft to the
touch, occasioned by the dense woolly hairs : lobes rounded,
lower ones generally sinuate or lobed, generally overlapping
each other, toothed with shallow7 bluntish unequal
teeth. Petioles furrowed on the upper side and rounded
on the lower, widened at the base. Stipules ovate, acute,
ciliate, strongly 1-nerved. Umbels duncles many-flowered. Pe
cylindrical, thickened at the base. Involucre of
6 or 8 oblongly lanceolate, acute, fringed bractes. Pedicles
shorter than the bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, segments lanceolate,
acute, villosely fringed, upper one broadest, erect, the
others reflexed. Petals 5, all obovate, the two upper ones
broadest, nearly obcordate, unequal sided, of an orangy
red, stained with dark purple, marked with numerous dark
lines, which are much branched and crowded ; lower ones
of rather a lighter colour, and only marked with faint veins. Filaments 10, unequal in length, united at the base, 7 only
bearing anthers. Style purple, very hairy. Stigmas 5,
dark purple, revolute.
