and smooth upwards.  Stigmas 5, purple,  reflexed,  the upper  
 side fimbriate. 
 The present plant is a hybrid production, and is one of  
 those that  has  originated from  P. grandiflorum,  perhaps  
 by being muled several times over;  ratifolium, it is related  to P. ser-   and also to P. amplissimum,  and several other  
 sorts,  that have  originally  sprung from  P. grandiflorum;  
 it is of strong growth,  and will thrive in any rich light soil,  
 and continues to flower,  successively,  all the  Summer; it is  
 also a hardy sort, requiring only a common greenhouse,  or  
 warm light room, to protect it through the Winter. Cuttings  
 of it strike root freely,  if planted  in  pots,  and placed in a  
 sheltered situation.

 Nursery of Mr.  Russell, of Battersea, in June last.
