White-marked purple Stork's-bill.
P. albinotatum, foliis rotundato-cordatis acutis subcuculla-
tis inasqualiter acute dentatis utrinque molliter pilosis,
stipulis ovatis acuminatis, umbellis; plurifloris, petalis
omnibus obovatis, tubo nectarifero calyce erecto duplo
breviore.
Stem fruticose, erect, branched: branches erect, thickly
clothed with unequal spreading woolly hairs and short down
intermixed. Leaves variable, roundly cordate, acute or
sometimes obtuse, more or less cucullate, many-nerved
from the base, the nerves much branched, and ending in
smallish sharp teeth, which are unequal in length, clothed
on both sides with short woolly hairs; upper leaves ovate
or cuneate, sometimes shortly 3-lobed. Petioles flattened
on the upper side and convex on the lower, broadest at the
base, very hairy. Stipules ovate, taper-pointed and fringed. Umbels terminated in a sort of panicle, 5 or 6-flowered. Peduncles cylindrical, very hairy, as are the bractes, pedicles,
calyx, and nectariferous tube. Involucre of 6 to 8
ovately lanceolate, acute, fringed bractes. Pedicles scarcely
so long as the bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, the segments erect,
lanceolate, taper-pointed. Nectariferous tube short,
broadly flattened, about half the length tals 5, of the calyx. Pe
all obovate, of a bright purple, the two upper ones
broadest, unequal sided, marked from the base with several
dmaernk tpsurple lines, between which is a white mark. Fila
10, united at the base, 7 bearing anthers : pollen
orange-coloured. Style purple, very hairy near the base,
and smooth upwards. Stigmas 5, purple, revolute.
