chesStem shrubby at the base, very much branched: bran
upright, densely clothed with very short white hairs. Leaves lemon scented, or inclining to the scent of balm,
very small, numerous, crowded, distichously spreading,
broader than long, rather fleshy, cuneate or truncate at the
base, trifid, very much curled at the margin, and toothed
with short horny teeth, very rough, the roughness occasioned
by small rigid hairs, which are numerous on both
sides: middle segment largest, and 3-lobed, the side ones
t2i-o lelsobed: lobes acute, the points very slightly reflexed. Pe
short, flattened on the upper side, and convex on the
lower, thickly clothed with short hairs. Stipules cordately
ovate, acute, fringed with short rigid hairs. Peduncles 2 to
3- flowered, short, cylindrical, thickly clothed with short but
unequal hairs. Involucre of 6 lanceolately ovate, acute,
fringed bractes, with purple margins. Pedicles scarcely so
long as the bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, the segments lanceolate,
acute, spreading, or the lower ones sometimes reflexed
a little, tinged with purple, very rough, being thickly
