Stem frutesCent, very much branched: branches erect
or spreading, thickly clothed with short hairs, that are
slightly reflexed, Leaves succulent, numerous, spreading,
kidney-shaped, flat, 5 to 7-lobed, crenated with afewdeep-
ish notches, the lobes rounded, of a dark green, smooth and
glossy on the upper side, but clothed with some short hairs,
which are not perceptible, except held up to the light: underneath
strongly 5 or 7-nerved from the base, the nerves
branched, and clothed with short hairs. Petioles flattened
and furrowed on the upper side, and convex on the lower,
widened at the base, clothed with short pules reflexed hairs. Sti
ovate, bluntish, but ending in a short point, and terminated
with a few long setae or bristle like hairs, the mardgiunns
cflreinsged with short hairs. Umbels many-flowered. Pevolucre
cylindrical, clothed with short reflexed hairs. In
of 6 broadly ovate bractes, which also terminate in
a short point, that ends in a long bristle like hair, the
margins fringed. Pedicles short, scarcely so long as the
bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, thelaciniae lanceolate, acute: upper
one broadest, erect, the others spreading, or slightly reflexed. Nectariferous tube about 3 times the length of the calyx,
dark purple, keeled on each side, and clothed with spreadi5n,
g unequal hairs, that are tipped with small glands. Petals all obovate, of a bright scarlet, strongly veined with numerous
