P. Rollisoni, foliis reniformibus obsolete 3-5-lobis undu-
latis acute dentatis multinerviis, pedunculis subquadri-
floris, stipulis ovatis acutis, calycibus villosis, tubo nec-
tarifero calyce subsequali aut parum breviore.
A dwarf frutescent plant, very much branched: branches
short and compact, thickly clothed with unequal spreading
villous hairs, as are the petioles, peduncles, and calyx. Leaves kidney-shaped, broader than long, slightly 3 to 5-
lobed, undulate, and toothed with numerous small sharp
unequal teeth, thinly clothed with hairs on both sides, underneath
strongly nerved, the nerves numerous, and branched
all over the leaf. Petioles flattened on the upper side
and convex on the lower, a little widened pules at the base. Sti
ovate, acute, villous, and fringed. Peduncles cylindrical,
generally 4-flowered. Involucre of 6 small, ovate, taper
pointed, keeled, villous bractes. Pedicles nearly double
the length of the nectariferous tube, villous. Calyx purple,
5-cleft, the segments ovate, acute, spreading, the upper one
broadest, and keeled. Nectariferous tube about the length
of the calyx, or sometimes scarcely as long, purple, and villous.
Petals 5, the two upper ones short, broad, and rounded,
the inner side appearing as if cut off from about the middle,
of a lilac colour, with a large velvetty patch in the
centre, which covers the greater part of the petals, and
striped with numerous dark lines above and below it: lower
petals obovate, paler lilac, stained with purple about the
mmiedndtlse, and striped from the base with pale red lines. Fila
10, connected at the base, 7 bearing anthers. Style
flesh-coloured, hairy about half way up, the upper part
smooth. Stigmas 5, short, purple, reflexed.
