H. orobifolia, foliis simplicibus ovalibus ternatis pinna-
tisque utrinque hirsutis : foliolis oppositis ovatis obtu-
sis integerrimis 2-3-partitis bifidisve terminali maximo,
stipulis lanceolatis petiolo adhaerentibus, scapo ramoso,
umbellis multifloris, petalis ligulatis patentibus, tubo
nectarifero calyce subtriplo longiore.

Root tuberous, inclining to hard brown shell. Stem none. Leaves fusiform, clothed with a
variable; some of
the lower ones simple and oval, others ternate, quinate or
2-3-parted : leaflets upper ones pinnate, of a light green, all
over hairy: opposite, very variable, some simple,
and roundly oval, others 2 or 3-cleft, or 2 to 3-parted,
the terminal one largest, all bluntly rounded and fringed,
lower ones on footstalks and most Petioles divided, upper ones
sessile, but narrowed at the base. flattened on the
upper side and rounded on the lower, purplish, thickly
pules clothed with small slender hairs, which bend inwards. Sti
lanceolate, acute, membranaceous, fringed, and joined
to the base of the petioles. Scape erect, branching, thickly
cclloetshed with small hairs, which also bend inwards. Pedun
cylindrical, a little thickened below the umbel, also
hairy. Umbels many-flowered. Involucre of several narrowly
lanceolate or linear, acute, fringed bractes. Pedicles
very short, or sometimes wanting. Calyx 5-cleft, segments
lanceolate, acute, concave, the upper one largest, erect, the
others reflexed. Petals 5, ligulate, spreading, narrow at the
base; upper ones rather the longest, reflexed from about
the middle, yellow, tinged with brown, and at the bend is
a large purple patch, which branches out into lines that
