P. scitulum, foliis basi dilatatis subtruncatis inaequaliter
cartilagineo-dentatis sublobatis acutis; subtus multi-
nerviis, pedunculis plurifloris, pedicellis bracteis duplo
longioribus, tubo nectarifero calyce subsequali.
Stem frutescent, branching: branches spreading, thickly
clothed with unequal spreading hairs. Leaves broader than
long, dilated and truncate at the base, the large ones not
lobed and gradually tapering to a point, of a glossy green,
but pubescent on both sides, sharply toothed with unequal
rigid horny teeth, underneath strongly and numerously
nerved, the nerves branched all over the leaf, the branches
terminated in teeth, under side of a lighter colour than the
upper; upper leaves more lobed, and clothed with longer
hairs. Petioles flattened and furrowed on the upper side,
and convex on the lower, very hairy. Stipules broadly
lanceolate, taper-pointed. Peduncles cylindrical, clothed
with spreading unequal hairs. Umbels several-flowered. Involucre of 6 ovate or obovate fringed bractes, most of
which are toothed at the points. Pedicles about double
the length of the bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, the segments variable
in breadth, lanceolate, acute, mucronated with a brown
point, villosely hairy and fringed. Nectariferous tube
about the length of the calyx, much flattened on each side
and tals gibbous 5, at the base, slightly tinged with purple. Pe
pure white, the two upper ones obovate, unequal
sided, gradually narrowing to the base, striped above half
their length with several purple lines, which are shortly
branched: lower ones oblongly obovate, also tapering to
their base, 7 bearing anthers, and their sterile ones longer
