P. Richianum, foliis cordatis subquinquelobis undulatis argute
cartilagineo-dentatis, stipulis subdentatis, umbellis
plurifloris, petalis oblongo-obovatissuperioribus ramoso-
venosis, laciniis calycinis elongato-lanceolatis acumi-
natis reflexis, tubo nectarifero calyce parum breviore.
Stem frutescent, branching: branches thickly clothed
with spreading very unequal villous hairs. Leaves cordate,
some of them rather reniform, undulate, slightly 5-lobed,
and deeply toothed with numerous long sharp cartilaginous
teeth, the points of the longest recurved. Petioles flattened
on the upper side, and convex on the lower, thickly clothed
with spreading villous hairs,Stipules as are the peduncles, calyx,
and nectariferous tube. ovate or oblongly lanceolate,
taper-pointed, and mostly toothed. Umbels several-
lucre flowered.6 Peduncles cylindrical, more or less bent. Invo
of ovate taper-pbinted keeled bractes, their margins
fringed. Pedicles in our specimen shorter than the bractes. Calyx 5-cleft, the segments very long, lanceolate, tapering
to a long slender point, fringed, longer than the nectariferous
tubes, which are very variable in length, and keeled on
each side. Petals 5, rather narrow for their length, oblongly
obovate; the upper ones broadest, unequal-sided, very
narrow towards the base, of a pale blush, with a slight purple
patch in the centre, and numerous elegant purple lines,
very variable in colour, which branch all over the petals:
lower petals whiter, with a strong purple line from the base,
more or less branched. Filaments 10, connected at the
mbaasse, 7 bearing anthers. Style purple, quite smooth. Stig
5, purple, reflexed.
