Vorticella fimplex, fphasrica, pedunculo retortili. Simple
fpherical, with a twilled pedicle.
The little head is fpherical, the aperture o f the mouth ciliated,
the pedicle four times longer than the body, which it commas
m a fpiral form. It is frequent among the cyclope quadricomi.

The fmall head o f this animalculum is crater-form (goblet-

Vorticella fimplex, turbinata, pedunculo retortili. Simple,
with a twilled turbinated pedicle.
The pedicle is fimple, and twills itfelf fpirally, is exceeding
llender, and has a kind of cap on the head ; the margin white
and round, and as it were encompafled with a lucid ring; the
head diminilhes towards the bafe. It is tranlparent.

The body is narrow at the bafe, open and truncated at top,
the margin as it were furrounded with a ring; but when the aper-
tu<e is Ihut, the animalculum is egg-lhaped, the inteftine? may be
feen diftinftly, the pedicle is fimple, fetaceous, confiderably
longer than the body, and generally much bent back, a the
