more, branched, and jointed, the joints a
little fwelled.

hiriute, and veiny, the edge often reddifli,
divided into feven lobes,, each of which is
iubdivlded into about threebluntilh fegments
terminated by a Ihort point, the middle feg-
ment the largeft; thofe o f the /talk oppofite
compofed of fewer lobes, and thofe more’
widely feparating behind.
LEAF-STALKS next the not ye ry long, round, and
downy, exhibiting if cut acrofs four white
dots on their extremities.

the joint, divided into two or three

FLOWER-STALKS downy, bifid, fupporting two
flowers; Partial flower-ftalks the length of
the general one, and furnilhed at bottom with
four fmaller Itipulae.
FLOWERS largilh and purple, before they open hang-
ing down, afterwards becoming upright.
CALYX: a Perianthium divided into five oval
pointed fegments, terminated by afliort brown
bluntith point, having three ribs, edged with
hairs, and flightly clammy, fir. 1.
COROLLA: five Petals twice the length of the
calyx, inverfely heart-lhaped, bifid at top, at
bottom villous, jig. 2.
N ECTARY: five yellowilh Glands placed at the bottom
of the Stamina, Jig.
STAMINA: ten Filaments, purplilh at top, A nth
