This is assuredly the plant of Gaudichaiid, and agrees with WiUdenow’s description 5 hut Kaulfass must
havo Bomc other species in view when he desctihes the fronds as on both sides “ adlato.squamosoe.

Gaudichaud has accni-ately described this species, and we think it equally certain that it is the Pfcopdte
dm g u ta of Kaulfass ; hut, in onr specimen, the scales on tho nnders.de of the frond, and of 7 ' ' ,
cation, ai-o quite ohUterated, and indeed are described as so very ftigacious, that we prefer arranging the plant
with the Polypodia rather than with the Pleopeltides.

The fronds of this are very tender and membranaceous, 1-G inches long, sometimes uncqnally forked to-
wards the extremity.
