The Parmdm arigo.a and Sandwichiana of Gaudichand in Freyeinct's Voyage, ami Pannarla crythro-

rugulosis gelatinoso-membranaceis, apicibus convexis, subtus intense fuscis subpubescenti-

The nearest afdnity of this species is perhaps P . colpodes of Achmim. figined by Swartz in his American

more evident, crenate, lobed, and leafy. _

This CoIlcMa is perfectly distinct from a n , we have yet seen or can find described. It gi-ows upon tee
trnnlis of frees, in lai-gc patches of a deep brown coIo.fr, and of a thin gclatmons texture, the laei.nm rten d
much waved, and crisped; the miu-gin of the apothecia is v e i, rcmai-kablc, forming a hcautifii le.ify cirelc
around the fruit, and five or six times b.-oader than the young frnctifieations
Gaudichand, (Freyc, Voy. p. 204.) from Br,«il, differs in the glaucous colo.fr of Us fohage, but the marg...
of tbe apothecia appears to be the same.

We possess both these vai-ietìes fi-om Mr. Menzies; the fo.-mcr, gathered in California, must he viewed
as the true plant of Acharius. Both ai-e in the present Conection, from Tahiti.
