ternis obovatis subellipticisve obtusis venosis glabriusculis, stipulis subulato-acuminatis,
racemis lanceolatis sublonge pedunculatis axillaribus, bracteis lanceolato-acuminatissimis
ciliatis, articulis 5 -6 subquadratis margine hinc convexis reticulatis hirsuto-scabris.— Hedy-

We are satisfied of this plant being the Hedysanim ptupureum of Roxh., Avhich, however, we do not find
any where described. The same plant, too, we have received ft-om the Island of St. Vincent in the
West Indies, probably introduced from the Old World.—The figure in Birnn. Zeyl. t. 53. f. 2, and again that
in Burm. Ind. t. 55. f. 2, (H . siliquoswm, Biu-m.) appear to be the same as this ; but we do not know that
they are refeired to by any author.
