and of the following species, to which it is nearly allied, though quite different in the foliage.

Bear River, Snake Country. {Tolmie.)—ÌAessrs Torreyand Gray observe that this comes very near to S.
coccinea, but it is smaller, the leaves much more divided, and the segments narrower, and I believe really
distinct.

This is a totally different species both from N. fraxinifolium, Nutt. {N. aceroides, Moench, and Torr. et
Gray,) and from iV. Mexicanum,'* oí which there are fine specimens in Andrieux's PI. Mexic. Exsicc. p. 489.

This is a true Erodium, having the five sterile stamens in the fiower, and tbe awns of the fruit spirally
twisted, and bearded internally with red hairs. Leaves 2-24 inches broad.
