aceis longe petiolatis grosse serratis triplinerviis piloso-hispiclis subtus piillidioribus, spicis
axillaribus folia excedentibus glomerato-iiiterruptis.
This is ueai-ly allied to Urtica cylindracea of North America, in the shape of its leaves aud general
appeai-ance of the flowers on the spikes; but the former are constantly alternate, and the wliole plant is
more liispid.
1. Procris sessilia; lierbacea, erecta, foliis oblongo-lanceolatis acutis falcatis penninerviis
grosse serratis snpra præcipiie pilis fusiformibus adnatis asperis basi obliquis subauriculatis
subsessilibus junioribus subtus liirsutis, stipulis’ oblongis membranaceis, capitulis masculis
sessilibus fcemineis pedunculatis involucratis.— Elatostema sessile. Forst. Gen. p . 106.—
Dorstenia pubescens. “ Forst. Prodr. n. 39.”— Procris australis. Spr.
■2. Procris integrifolia ; lierbacea, erecta, foliis oblongo-lanceolatis acuminatis subfalcatis
obscure penninerviis integerrimis supra pilis fusiformibus adnatis asperis basi obliquis breve
petiolatis, stipulis lanceolatis, capitulis sessilibus. Don, Prodr. Ft. Nepal, p . 61.
Oui- specimens of these two species of Procris are not in a sufficiently perfect state to ajlow us to judge
how far one or other of them may helong to the Genera Elalostema and SciopMta, as deined by Gaudichand
111 tbe Botany of Freycinet’s Voyage. Tlie present species we possess from the IMauritius and Prince of
Wales Island, and it appeal's identìc.-ll with the P . integrifolia of iVIr. Don.
