This agrees in many respects with B . cruciata. Ham. {Benth. Scroph. Ind. p . 41,) but it appears from Mr.
Bentham’s specific character of the latter, to be quite distinct. Tho whole plant, as is usual in the genus,
becomes black by drying.

Calyx tubulosus, subcoloratus, decemstriatus, versus faucem paullum angustatus; limbo
subæqualiter quinquepartito, laciniis oblongo-linearibus, duabus superioribus rectis, tribus
inferioribus deflexis. Corolla ringens, tubo angusto calycem æquante: labium superius
rectum, indivisum, concavum; inferius trilobum, subdeflexum. Stamina quatuor, didynama,
ascendentia, sub labio superiore posita. Antheræ incumbentes, loculis discretis
parallelis basi acutis muticis. Stylus rectiusculus simplex. Stigma capitatum, subbilobum.
“ Capsula oblonga recta, valvulis integris.” Benth.— Herb a erecta, ramosa, cano-pubescens.
Folia subopposita, circumscriptione triangularia, basi in petiolum attenuata, 3-partita, seg-
meniis lateralibus divarieatis, omnibus inciso-pinnatifidis. Rami fiorigeri simplices. Folia

This approaches very much in character to Bartsia, from which it is distinguished by the calyx, and to
Pedicidaris, from which it is separated by the corolla and calyx. In habit it is not allied to any genus with
which wc are acquainted.
