Stem 3-6 in. long, J in. thick, eqnal or attenuated below, pallid, becoming
reddish at the base, aud within. Pileus 2-3 in. broad, even, smooth,
with rather viscid onticle, pale orange-red with the diso rufous. The figure
in “ Illustrations” has too yellow a tone, and is printed rather too dark in the
pileus, which it was impossible to alter without cancelling the plate.
