white hairs. Leaves elliptical-lanceolate, acute, ovate, or taper at the base,
serrated. Flowers white, disposed unilaterally in long lateral and terminal

Gen. Char. Calyx deeply 5-paited. Corolla tubular or ovate, with a contracted,
5-toothed, revolute border. Stamens enclosed ; filaments dilated,
bisetose at to p ; cells of anthers short, incumbent, dehiscing lengthwise.
Style robust, pentagonal. Stigma truncate. Capsule with a loculicidal dehiscence.
Seeds scobiform. (Don’s Mill.')
Leaves simple, alternate, stipulate, evergreen ; coriaceous. Flowers drooping,
teradnal, racemose.— Shrub or low tree, evergreen, native of Nepal.

20 ft. to 40 f t . ; in British gardens 2 ft. to 3 ft. Introduced
