H I S is full the lize o f a Lark in the body: length feven
inches and a half. Bill black, notched at the tip ; the
length, to the gape, three quarters o f an inch; but the feathers
come remarkably forward over the noftrils: the general colour o f
the plumage is blue black, with a glofs o f polilhed- fteel: the
lefier wing coverts o f a moft beautiful crimfon; the loweft order
o f areddilh yellow : the tail is four inches long: legs black.

black velvet-like feathers: whole plumage o f a deep glofiy

o f a dull red: the lore, and a fpace round the eye, o f the
fame colour: the crown o f the head and hind part o f the neck
pale cinereous grey : forehead and chin yellow: fides, front of
the neck, and all beneath, pale rufous, paleft at the v en t: back,
wings, and tail, cinereous lead colour; the laft greatly cuneiform
in fhape, and feven inches in length : legs red: claws black.
