'Y ’ H I S is probably theleaft of its race, being only three inches
in length. The bill is a trifle bent, and black : irides red :
the top o f the head, hind neck, back, and rump, are crimfon :
from the noftrils a black band paffes through the eye to the wing:
the throat, breaft, and belly, are rufous white : the wing coverts
dark green, almoft black: quills, tail, and legs, black. Afp e c i-
men is in the collection of Sir JoJeph Banks, which came from
China. I obferve it alfo among the Indian drawings o f Lady
Impey.

the plumage are blue-grey : throat and fore part o f the neck
the fame, but paler : on the upper part of the back is a fpot of
orange yellow : the breaft and belly are alfo orange yellow : the
vent pale yellow : legs black.
Inhabits China.
J E N G T H four inches. Bill black, incurvated : head, neck,
and back, deep olive j the feathers edged with dufky: prime
quills brown : belly and tail black : on each fide of the breaft a
tuft o f yellow feathers : legs black.

^ gold: tongue long, capable o f being darted into flowers, like
that of a Humming Bird: wing coverts o f a fine yellow: quills,
tail, and legs, black. ,
n p O T A L length five inches. Bill an inch and a half: tongue
long and miffile, as in the laft defcribed : crown and hind
part o f the neck light green : back, wings, and tail, dufky, edged
with olive green: fore part of the neck and breaft white : belly
and vent pale yellow : legs blueifh.
