the above bird.
The bill is of a
pale green, and ihaped much like that of a G u ll: the crown of the
head,- hind part of the neck, and back, brown: above the eyes
-white-: along the-fide o f the neck a yellow ftripe, divided from
the fore part by another o f black, which finifties on the breaft ;
excepting this, all the under parts from the chin are white : the
-wing coverts are white, crofted with a few brown bars: prime
quills black, ending in two projecting narrow feathers: tail cuneiform,
brown: legs as in other Jacanas, and o f a pea green*
This inhabits India, where it is called a Plover*^
