This handsome plant is also of hybrid origin, and
we are informed was first raised from seed by Mr.
Welsh • the plant from which our drawing was made was
kindly’ sent to us by Messrs. Chandlers, from their
Nursery at Yauxhall,in the Wandsworth believe, Road, who, we have the whole of the stock at present; it belongs
to the fine red purple sorts, which are much less common
now than the bright reds and scarlets, which makes
it the more desirable for collections; it is also a very-
early flowering sort, beginning to bloom m March and
continuing in flower all the Summer, and till late in
Autumn, if properly managed. It will thrive well in
any rich light soil; and young cuttings, planted m pots,
and placed on a shelf in the Greenhouse, will soon strike
root.
