The present subject is one of the sorts mentioned
by us in a former number, that we received from the
collection of C. Hoare, Esq. of Luscombe, near Exeter
; and we are informed by Mr. Saunders, that it is
a hybrid production, raised by him from the seed of
P. dumosum that had been fertilized by the pollen of
P. Watsoni. It appears to be a very desirable plant,
on account of its abundance of bloom, with which it
is covered nearly all the summer: it is also a neatgrowing,
bushy plant, not of so robust a habit as
many others, and is therefore a more proper plant for
small collections; thriving well in any rich light soil.
Cuttings of it will root readily, if planted in pots and
placed in a sheltered situation.
